Not only with guns but drivers being crucified for fleeing a mob. Unlike the left, conservatives have lives and jobs they don't want to lose - and understandably so.
But what happens when you combine this conservative belief about armed self-defense with wise skepticism of the corrupt legal system? Unfortunately in many cases you get inaction and people staying home after a painful risk-reward analysis. And the left goes unchecked and continues to dominate the public square, destroy monuments, erase history and groom kids at "drag queen story hour". I don't care about leftists looting and destroying their own shithole neighborhoods but allowing them to destroy important symbols of the nation is not good. It's demoralizing and humiliating and to undecided people we appear weak which is not attractive.
So how do we solve this? One way is to show up in large enough numbers without guns. You are trading away legal risk for physical risk but in many cases it has worked. A perfect example would be the Italians defending the Columbus statue in Philadelphia. Yes the legal system is corrupt but the risks you run by shoving away violent aggressors are way lower than discharging your firearm in public. When you rally sufficient numbers and stick together and watch each other's backs you can do well. It's not like the scrawny soy losers facing you are very tough or brave. And it's easier to rally the numbers needed when people aren't so freaked out about going to prison for life on corrupt charges related to firearms.
What will most likely happen? You'll successfully achieve your objective and go home with minimal injury and legal risk. It's even worked on Berkeley's campus before in 2017, we cleared antifa out of their home territory without guns.
What happens if you accidentally kill someone with a punch? It's possible but not likely. What happens if a leftist decides to pull out a gun and shoot you while you're unarmed? Again it's not likely but if the left starts shooting unarmed targets, you can bet that a hot civil war won't be far behind. The left actually realizes this and it's one of the reasons why antifa doesn't use guns.

You're right about conservatives staying away (this is why so few showed up to Trump's first post-COVID rally) but I don't know of a good solution other than the police being allowed to do their jobs.
That's a really good point and I think the solution is to not form any kind of official organized group, especially not with leaders and a hierarchy or their own symbols & uniforms like the Proud Boys did. It gives corrupt feds heaps of ammo to use against you to classify you in special ways as some kind of organized terrorist threat, infiltrate and fuck with the group, frame people, elevate your charges, the list goes on.
There's nothing illegal or immoral about simply stating that conservatives and patriots should show up unarmed to protest the vandalism of a monument or something similar, and then you disperse afterwards.
You have a very good point. But conservatives are facing an organized well financed terrorist organization. Those kids have drank the cool aid .Have no jobs to lose..Live in moms basement. I know what you mean but I don't think Trump could risk using the military to handle the rioters because he would be accused of mass murdering civilians (even if those "civilians" were in the middle of beating someone to death on the pavement or lobbing a fire bomb into a police station). This whole thing is an optics game, it's a messy propaganda war.
I just don't think we can continue allowing the left to destroy the soul of the nation and erase its history and monuments unopposed. The more we let it happen, the more defeated we feel and the less likely we are to do anything, even vote.
I think you are demoralized. And it is demoralizing to watch for sure but it is also motivating. Voting in november is the bare minimum action to take against the unwashed commies destroying the country. The revolution started with one event in Boston. It will only take one event to move conservative patriots to action.

I also agree that the US could be close to another civil war but I'm not waiting for it as the only solution and I don't actually wish for it because it means a lot of good men will die. I'm trying to think of ways to oppose the left's advance now (in peaceful and legal ways) without waiting for some apocalyptic event to begin.

While you do have valid points, most conservatives are older than the lib counterparts, we have real jobs, families & responsibilities that don't leave a lot of time to run out and take time from them, but it's getting to the point where we have to make a stand and sacrifice time to do it.
