Droplets can be anywhere from 2 to 100 microns. Droplets evaporate and become smaller with time.
The picture does describe where the viruses would be on your face after wearing a mask, so when you get in the car, take your mask off and rub your face because it itches like hell, guess what?
Eyes are anyway the weakpoint of the face, there's a reason you wear a full face mask when dealing with anything that's a biohazard, if you really want to stay healthy you need proper protection, not that it's worth it for a disease that's basically as lethal as normal flu season.
Only if they are properly worn and properly removed. I would like to actually see the data though. Early into this pandemic there seemed to be some indication that countries where masks were worn had reduced transmission rates but we now know they weren't testing nearly enough to support that so the data could be massaged either way and there's no reason why those masks on their own should work. We also know people aren't wearing gloves, full face mask and disposable clothing nor do they have decon stations at home. Why should they? The public is not informed enough to understand why they should do those things and how to best use them.
These masks should be worn by sick people with active symptoms, like a cough, for any disease year round; i.e. cold / flu / pneumonia, if the person NEEDS to go outside. I wish we took a lesson from Japan from this. They do reduce spread. But if you have no active symptoms they aren't really doing anything or protecting you, since you got 4 other holes in your head and you are as likely to get it from your hands than breathing it in.
were you wearing eye protection? No? You still have COVID! You'd have to dress like Tali from Mass Effect for me to take wearing a mask seriously. Especially after visiting this bullshit....TWICE!
The text may be a bit wrong, but the photo is telling. I was on a Hazardous Materials Response Team as a Hazmat Technician. I mention this as I know a thing or two about PPE. I can tell you one thing, these masks won't protect you. They may help prevent some spread, as some of the respiratory droplets may get captured by the mask. But that's it. The paper/cloth masks do not form a seal on the face, so microorganisms and droplets can still go around the mask.
Additionally, transmission vectors are not just the mouth, but eyes too. So, unless you are wearing a full face respirator with the appropriate filters (if there is even such a thing), then you are at risk. Period.
I hear what you are saying, and I can agree that a properly used N95 respirator mask would definitely be better protection. (Though I would argue that 95% protection is not great. Good, but not great.) It still doesn't address the issue with the eyes, and the government isn't telling people to use N95 respirators.
Yeah it's more to protect other people from you being sick than you from them, but when so many people can't even wash their hands properly or do personal hygiene (like antifa) it's hardly going to make a difference.
The mask isn't to help you. It is to help keep you from spreading it to other people. It will reduce how far your breath and droplets travel. I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about this. Don't be a dick. Wear a mask.
I disagree with wearing masks but Monk is right about the masks being used to catch germs going out on exhales. It's the same reason doctors wear similar masks during surgeries to prevent breathing germs into a patient. That being said, mandatory masks are retarded as idiots will still spread germs via dirty phones and grocery stores.

A full medical face mask added to standard precautions of gown, gloves, and mask, reduce Covid transmission to healthcare workers by over 95%.

My daughter wants a Tali mask for back to school because it's the only chance she'll ever get to cosplay at school. :)
Q: How large are the aerosol droplets that carry the virus?
Droplets are not aerosol.
But they are much larger than a 0.125 micron, on average. They can be up to 1 mm from a cough or sneeze.
This meme is wrong.

The mask in the meme offers limited protection, I agree.
But a N95 disposable respirator offers great protection. Just wrote my opinion on this comment if you wanted me to elaborate.

You think once the virus is air borne it stays in the droplets ?
Masks might protect you from someone spitting on your face, but they don’t protect you from viruses is the point.
If the carrier has a mask on, that would catch the droplets and prevent them from becoming air borne, right?
Once they're out of your mouth, they're airborne. The mask is not forming a seal around your mouth.

Would be nice to find a new respirator for work! I have been using my old one for plaster work for months now.
Me too
Sheeple need to see this on the "news" otherwise they won't accept it.
I wear a mask to protect myself from karens.
but but but it will stop SOME, and if it even helps a little, shouldnt we do it to save just one life?!!!11!

Feel free to share studies showing this. What are you doing out in public closer than 6 feet and sneezing on people, Karen?!
