We don't need to do anything. These hiring practices will tank these companies because they ignore reality. Apparently no one understands how bell curves work. As soon as you restrict your hiring pool to smaller and smaller groups based on arbitrary attributes that have zero effect on performance, you have no choice but to hire people that are less competent and qualified than others. This becomes especially true if the job is highly specialized.

Edit: To add, as time goes on morale will tank due to the competent being surrounded by the incompetent and people will leave because they're being overworked to make up the difference.

Yeah...logic is not their strong suit. It's actively discouraged even. Funny that the entire woke premise is based on decades long hiring practice that companies used to fill roles with people who were "less competent" than others thereby holding back women and POC. Yet if this was factually correct, how come we have the leading economy in the world? Wouldn't this be the progressive utopia of Europe? Again, to buy into their propaganda you would have to believe that companies actively work against their own financial self-interest.

I'm sure it's going to be 'at least 50%' and not exact. Also, no company ever had so many top tier black applicants and complained about it. Pretty much every company wants qualified black applicants and simply can't get anywhere close to enough, and often enough can't get any. Skilled and capable black people are high demand and have a lot of open doors; they aren't all likely to be banging down the doors of some fake news outlet.

Poc just means not white gentiles, which are less that 87%. Latinos and Jews, for example, could make a large chunk of non-white hires, without being black.

Jews are also massively over represented amongst those who are able to dictate whether its a problem or not. Standard conflict of interest scenario, but they are also over represented amongst those would call them out or hold them accountable.

If they are always about equality then shouldn't it be 65% white, 15% black, 10% Hispanic, 10% Asian? And depending on male or female shouldn't matter?

But I guess they don't know the population differences because 50% women and 50% of color could be all the same thing. But then you have 50% of something else. Ummm how about the majority white males?

All these companies talk a big game, but these things don’t see much liftoff based on my experience. There will be D&I training, they may bring in a few extra minority candidates for interviews, they’ll probably hire extra HR to monitor the “POCs.” But once the work begins, they’ll forget about these dumb quotas and fire black/Latino/whatever employees as fast as any other.

At least that’s what I’ve seen so far. What most disturbs me about announcements like this is that the genuine crazies (not just the spineless present leadership who abet fads) may be getting close to power in a particular organization. And then what I’ve seen may no longer hold true.
