Black Hawk Down is the best IMO, followed closely by We Were Soldiers. FMJ is great though, that basic training section never gets old. Have yet to watch Midway.
I just prefer the older War films as they seem less "Hollywood" and more along the lines of what actually happened. Audie Murphy story should be taught in school.
Hell in The Pacific...only two men: Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune.
just dynamite !!!
only two men on an Island...have to work it out..
sometimes funny, always riveting. 10/10

Upvote for We Were Soldiers. Great flick.
Barry Pepper is great in that. Seeing how shaken his journalist character is after being in that battle with them, A+ acting.
My favorite was Sam Elliott as SGM Plumley!
We Were Soldiers Once is a great fucking movie. Gettysburg originally a miniseries, is outstanding as well.
The Great Raid
The Great Escape as well
Hamburger Hill
Dark flick.
To Hell and Back - Audie Murphy story starring himself
Wake Island is a fairly decent movie from the same era. To Hell and Back is much better.

Sands of Iwo Jima is a bit too Hollywood for me, but because The Duke (and Ira Hayes, briefly) is in it, I give it an occasional watch.
Seargant York is fantastic
