In the end, I printed out a brand new delivery receipt and had it set to go. The C.O.D. freight charges were now in excess of $10,000 for tis beat up old furniture. I was so proud of myself.
I got a call at home a few hours later - several in fact. Terminal Manager, Regional Manager, even a VP. Each called to team me out and asked me if I had lost my goddamn mind upping the charges to the Little Sisters of the Poor (who, btw, the delivery driver told me cursed me roundly when presented with the bill).
