I'm an electrician union member in Seattle. The union sent us an email encouraging us to take time off work to go protest for racial injustice and BLM. If I could opt out of paying dues, it would have been the moment I received that email.
I've worked with a very small amount of black people as an electrician. They were all hard workers and only one ever acted like he was discriminated against... And he was a Bubba Smollette. Once he gained my trust, he told me he's just trying to win a lawsuit and retire early. He was a great worker and good friend...
One time a rope with a hook fell off the building onto a tree. He immediately called over the general contractor and told him there's too much racism on the job site and he's disgusted seeing nooses. It was a hook, very clearly not a noose. He saw something racist written on a power pole near the job site and complained about that too. It wasn't even on the job site. He said the HR lady was racist because she didn't agree with his encounters. HR lady had more adopted black kids than he had illegitimate children (2) but that doesn't mean she's not racist at all.
He would write all these different things in a notebook he kept. Got himself a lawyer. Quit the job, then badly failed the entire case.
