My HS had a US Govt class. The only thing I remember is that I was told that "Right leaning people are rich old white men, you guys are probably all Democrats"
If they aren't teaching curriculum, they need to be fired. We need to fix curriculum so they won't be able to undo history easily. The Pearson books should be replaced by earlier editions and maybe supplemental books that actually teach history.
Cheapass school districts make bare-bones “pacing guides” that don’t help at all so that they don’t have to pay anyone to write a legit curriculum. There are some states and districts that provide pretty good curricula (sometimes they are overpacked though). Some teachers are doing their best to make up a curriculum on their own, but others are like this and just go rouge.
The standards are set by state and the district. The curriculum really comes from the resources they have, like the books and reading material. When all these schools drop the curriculum and free style outside the standards, the standards end up getting changed so the dumb kids can pass. They're forced to treat all the kids as dumb kids because the teachers would rather indoctrinate than do their jobs.
We have a problem when the book publishers start writing drivel and that ends up becoming standardized.
The education system has too many places where it will degenerate.
The textbook publishers are definitely a problem, especially after Common Core. The new American Lit text books I’m supposed To use hardly have any classic American literature in it—it’s all new stuff based around identity politics, so I’m having to scan things out of my own anthologies just so they can read stuff like Poe, Hawthorne, and Twain. However, the textbooks used right before the new ones are great. They cover all of the literary periods and have meaningful notes and activities in them...but they were phased out.
Right. My solution to that is to have the books be mostly classic history to a certain point like maybe 10 years lagging and have supplemental instruction material like a reader. That way, it covers actual history and then more recent history has some time to settle before being added to a new edition and even so, would be a smaller part.
The book publishers go where the money is. There are too many factors which is why leftists have so much influence, but developing a better system for book development would help.
I also don't see why Calculus books need to get the problems shuffled around or slightly altered every five years or so. Nothing has changed.
I'm telling you guys. Look into Teach For America. Taxpayer-funded scheme to remove veteran teachers and replace them with woke college kids. In order to teach you must read and study Anti-White books, etc. This shit was going on 15 years ago. Can't even imagine it now.
Trust me Civics is liberal propaganda. They taint the right as being so fascist wet dream ( even thought in my opinion facism belongs on the left side of the spectrum) while they drool over socialist policies like the horrors of the EU immigration crisis, gun control (most shootings are done with handguns and not assault rifles and it doesn’t take a genius to tell you why), “free” healthcare (it’s not free if you’re paying for it), reparation and GLOBALISM.
I've never wanted to slap a bitch as hard before I watched this clip

Into the sun.

More like we need to get the government out of the education business.
Oh, no. Is that a red? 😔

Actually, a standardized bare bones text would be best. For History, just slap on supplements every year. That A DONT cost hundreds of dollars.
Make it free copyright, so if a student loses it, he can go to kinkos and get his replacement, or even his home printer.
No reason to have brand new history books every few years. We learned German from 25 year old texts.
Terrifying. Fire these donkeys

I'm Canadian and I aparrantly know more american history then teachers, damn shame.

Because civics died before I was in school and that was 3 decades ago. It was Social Studies and the beginning of their fight against American.
This is why I homeschool my kids
