Some android phones actually have an IR blaster in them that will allow you to install an app that achieves the same outcome. The app is called TV Kill and it works with almost all TVs in my experience.
It's super easy. If you have a soldering iron and a high school diploma you can easily build it. No programming required, just soldering. Or you can get one of these: https://www.tvbgone.com/ but it's probably not as good as the adafruit one.
I bought one of these: https://www.adafruit.com/product/73 Works great for turning off any TV at a gym, bar, restaurant, etc.

I have had a few good moments turning tv's to an unexpected state with the phone.
I've always wanted to get one of these one day lol.
Today is the day!
but that BLM banner at the top of the page...maybe you get it from somewhere else.
I doubt you can bring that through the airport. Would probably have to get a plastic case for it.
Why doesn't that come pre-made? I'm too stupid to make it.
