It usually goes like this between Mask Wearer and I:

MW: Can I pet your dog.

I: Sorry sick people can't pet my dog.

MW: I'm not sick.

I: Then why are you wearing a mask.

MW: To stop the spread.

I: ...........

Bonus when there is a group of people and I let the non-masker pet my dog.

Similar conversation with my son yesterday:

Me: Why do I need to wear a mask

Him: To reduce the chance of spreading the virus to me

Me: But you're wearing a mask. Are you saying your mask doesn't stop the virus?

Him: uhhhhhhh.......

I see that strawman argument here all the time. I think the honest argument would be that each mask worn reduces the chances further. So if both of you are wearing a mask he's that much less likely to catch it.

Not saying I agree with it at all, but I can at least present / follow the logic clearly.

If neither mask filters out a virus then 0% chance of protection * 0% chance of protection is still = 0% chance of protection.

Recent study in I think the Lancet had patients cough 5 times into their mask. All virus was cultured on the exterior of the mask. None as in zero was cultured from the interior portion of the mask.
