Most traps that can incapacitate or kill are illegal under Man Trapping as they do not require a user be present to activate and would also activate on groups like... the EMTs coming to save your life, or the firefighters trying to drag you out of the collapsing building.
That said.... Spike strips on private property are pretty common anti-vehicle devices and may not meet the definition of trap.
