This is an underrated comment. The lowest scum of society are finally in power and they are eager to harass, demonize, and harm those who don't submit.
You aren’t even kidding. They get fucking nasty about it too. Walked out of a store in the mall today when some little bitch told me. Yes told not asked me to put the mask over my nose. Took it off and walked out. Lol my wife comes out and says. “She pissed you off huh”
Just got into it with a restaurant. We came in without masks. They would not let us in. I would have walked out to another, but was curious to see how far they would push it. We said, just get us to the table (where we are not required to wear a mask). They wouldn't. We put our shirts over our mouth (I had an under shirt, so it was actually double as thick as a mask. She had to get the manager to see. They came back with masks for us to use rather than take a 10 foot walk with our shirts over our mouths. I would have given them a harder time (I red pilled a little) but they were just the stupid policy police and not the task masters.
The walk to our table was totally void of other people. We took the masks off right after sitting down. We are in clown world.
Orders over logic. The useful idiots need to be challenged.
Get this, I called in a pizza order in town that has a pick up window on a public sidewalk. This pizza place closed the dining room entirely (even though they don't have to by law). When I go up to the window in the 100+ degree heat the first thing I'm asked is if I have a mask on me. I say "No."
Then after running my card and given my pizza I am told point blank that If I ever show my face on a public sidewalk they will refuse me service. I have been going to this place for almost a decade now.
Clown world indeed. I called the manager twice and very nicely pointed out that this is illegal and discrimination. I am not INSIDE your place of business so your authority on what I wear is an illusion.
I had some people here sadly agree that the business could do this, but I say fuck that. Don't give an inch.
After getting your table, immediately get up and go to the bathroom without a mask.
Make them harass you to put it back on. Then, state that you've changed your minds and leave, again, sans mask.
Love the downvote. But small business don't have loads of cash on hand to fight government. The public needs to point their anger at government not the individual small business owner that just trying to make a living. Wear a mask to be able to pay rent and put food on the table fine they are going to do it. Government over played the hype and now made every business susceptible to lawsuits if someone contracts a "cold". They will be sued out of existence. Call, write, visit these pols and put them in in uncomfortable situations and make them give answers on their decisions.
Reporting them to the ADA puts them between a rock and hard place though if you have a medical reason not to wear a mask. I’m waiting for a store to refuse me service after telling them I am medically exempt according to the ADA’s guidelines and refuse to make reasonable accommodations for me. That’s an immediate 75,000 dollar fine. https://www.adasoutheast.org/ada/publications/legal/ada-and-face-mask-policies.php
The thing that drives me nuts are the people that are like “but I’m doing this for you!” I never asked anybody to do anything for me, and I certainly won’t do that for strangers.
My office has largely been ignoring all the mask mandates from the state. However, we have a guy with a severely immuno-compromised child, and he is super paranoid right now. He’s asked everyone to not come in his cubicle without a mask, and guess what, we respect that.
Here's another thing to consider. They say we are staying at home and wearing masks not for us, but for the elderly. To protect them from this virus that could easily kill them. Well, the stay at home orders and school closures are negatively effecting my special needs child. She needs her special program at school. She needs the one on one coaching and interaction with her teacher and other specialists. Zoom calls do not work for her, period. But...this is for the 80 year old grandmas. They matter. Four year olds with special needs can suffer instead I guess. Business owners can suffer too by remaining closed or limiting how they operate. Let's just shift the suffering to everyone else so the elderly won't have to suffer. It makes NO fucking sense. Sorry if its harsh to the elderly, but come on. The rest of us have to live our lives.
I think the elderly are suffering from these unconstitutional mandates.
As I was leaving the gas station, an elderly man walked in, neither of us wearing a mask, we were able to see each others facial expressions and said hi as we passed by. He seemed genuinely pleased to see someone else without a mask.
Yeah, like my church initiated a seniors-only Mass because we have a large senior population. Everyone was fine with that. I think we’re all happy to make reasonable accommodations.
But they asked us for unreasonable shit. Forego life-saving heart surgeries. Abandon children to abusive parents. Crush people’s businesses. It’s insanity.
Agree completely. It’s one thing to be asked. It’s another to be mandated with fines if failure to comply. I’m fine with businesses asking people to wear masks. I’m not fine with the govt telling me to.
I just had my eye exam, and was required to wear a mask as it is up close and personal. So I am trying to read the eye chart with the lens thing on my face, but the lens thing is fogging up because my hot breath is escaping From the top of the mask. The doc fiNally says, pull the mask down. THANK YOU!
I went to the grocery store at lunchtime today (near Raleigh, NC) ... I was the only person there without a mask. I was so disheartened and disgusted by the feeble compliance.
That said, not one motherfucker dared to say one word to me at least. I would have ripped them to fucking shreds had they done so.
All the mask hype, it really seems to just live on the news and on social media. I live in the greater Los Angeles area and no in my neighborhood seems to be wearing them or staying at home for that matter. Yesterday we ran an errand around 3pm and traffic was jammed up just like it was before March. All of the people we passed biking, walking, waiting for the bus etc...no masks on. Sure, some people were wearing a mask, but more seemed to not be wearing them. I think largely people are just fucking over it. At least when they are outside. Sure, people wear them to go in to the grocery store, but otherwise I think people are just over it. Tons of people were out on the 4th having parties and lighting off fireworks. Even back in May people all seemed to be having Memorial Day BBQs etc. People are just fucking over it. I dare not say that on social media though. I'd be labeled a racist.
We have been using Amazon fresh for grocery delivery. It's great because now I don't have to deal with all of the old boomers at the market that write checks, use coupons and hover over the meat aisle trying to find the cheapest, yet best cut of meat there is while blocking everyone else from getting anything.
Yeah you can get vegetables and fruit through the service. Never had a problem with them choosing bad fruit or vegetables. I imagine if you have an issue though their customer service will take care of it. Amazon has pretty good customer service when it comes to their fuck ups.
Had a conversation with a coworker. He's afraid of covid. Asked him what he did last night. Went to a restaurant. I told him then you don't care. If you're going out to restaurants, you aren't worried about it. "Well if you aren't worried about it why do you wear a mask at work?" I do not wear one at work. "Well We're supposed to," he says as he hobbles away.
Guy's a conservative too, like how do you believe the hype about this, but not buy into "orange man bad?"
My sentiments exactly!
Remember Mask Wearer, that you wearing a mask protects you, not me, so if you want to wear a mask to protect yourself, I would say great and I would even advise you to carry, a second face mask; you know in case the wind blows the other mask right off your face...
"Stay safe out there, pilgrims and don't forget to breathe in and out, slowly.
Any of you had covid 19 yet? I have and recovered with some issues - didn't need to be hospitalized but was pretty sick for a week. I know i have the antibodies present in my blood. I think I should be able to go into retail stores without a mask - my state is forcing masks in all stores and all bars are closed. I know i cannot get or spread again - how about letting me go to the bar as long as I bring proof of antibodies - just like I have to prove I am over 21 to drink.
i agree - just seeing where people are because I know Covid is real since I had it. And I know how easily it spreads and I know some/maybe most people who have it don't show symptoms. If I was one of those people who didn't show symptoms and got my father sick and something happened to him, I would have never forgiven myself. So, I'm sort of OK with the masks since some people don't give a shit about the elderly - I tell him to stay home and I do his grocery shopping now.
started out feeling really tired, then fever and chills, then muscle aches, soar throat and only a slight cough as it resolved. Doctor prescribed me breathing treatments with some aerosol steroid and a z-pac. I tested positive during that time - but basically similar to flu symptoms.
thanks - i wanted to reply to this post because I know this virus can be deadly in older individuals like my dad. luckily i was able to take him a little farther out of harms way by now doing his grocery shopping - since i am not going to get COVID again or be a carrier. It makes me a little wary for older individuals with posts like this since ABC_oldguy could easily be a carrier that spreads it all over because he feels it is an encroachment on his rights to ask him to wear a mask. My father has stopped attending church services (where he is a deacon) due to other congregation members refusing to wear masks and put him at risk. You can have no symptoms and spread COVID easily - the crappy masks we can get don't do a good job of protecting people from inhaling other peoples exhaled germs - but they do a pretty good job of stopping the exhaled germs - so the mask wearing is just a common courtesy to others in case you are a carrier - so you don't spread to them - like I half jokingly said I and others who have recovered should not have to wear a mask since we can't carry. In short, you can do a little for your fellow Americans by not thinking of this as an encroachment on your rights but as something you can do to get the economy rolling quickly and possibly protecting the generations that came before us and helped shape this great country. I know some people will call me a sheep for listening to the "experts" about how this spreads, but I've had it and I don't know where I got it - I don't remember being around anyone sick. I lost my mom when I was 15 to cancer and I don't want to loose my dad too. If this can sway anyone regarding mask wearing I may being saving someone else parent.
On the special hours - I agree that it is a good compromise, but aren't you really just trading one restriction for another? You're basically saying mask wearing tramples on my rights as an American, but restricting when I can go to a store doesn't. As for asymptomatic spread, I do know people who went to get tested because they were in contact with someone else that tested positive and after testing positive as well didn't really get sick. Not sure if the test was flawed, not sure if they couldn't spread father...but I agree we need to know more and someone needs to study this further and get answers. My basic point here was to try to not politicize a disease - another reply referred to this a the democrat's disease as if it was fake. I know it is real and I'm pretty sure older people have a higher chance of dying from it.
The mask comment was from a doctor I know - who is a conservative - and i'm not sure where he got the info, but he sent me a graphic showing that when everyone wears a mask, the transmission rate is about 1.5%. When just non-infected people wear masks, there is a 30% chance of being infected. When only infected people wear masks there is a 5% transmission rate. I have no idea where this data or graphic came from and I don't like throwing around numbers without proof. But I took the idea to heart after contracting COVID and not having any idea where or from who I contracted. So I am a believer in doing whatever I can to stop the person to person transmission and if I can convince one person to just try some of the suggestions because it isn't that difficult to wear a mask, I may someones mom or dad or grandparent. I know a lot of people on here are antivax or believe COVID is a made up virus, but I can confirm it is real because I had it and basically had flu like symptoms. The big difference is this spreads easier than the flu. I don't get flu shots, I just avoid those sick and practice good hygiene - as I said I have no idea how I got this cause I followed the same practices I do during flu season.
But then they wouldn't be able to tell other people what to do
Bingo.
The mask police get off on scolding people who don't wear masks. It makes them feel virtuous.
This is an underrated comment. The lowest scum of society are finally in power and they are eager to harass, demonize, and harm those who don't submit.
How the fuck do you know?
I beg to differ, unfortunately.

What you do is go out back and turn off their meter. No Power No Service fixed
It's all imposed by government.. They can loose their license. Blame politicians not the small business owners.

She can’t report me. I’m black in San Fran. It’s illegal.
That has been my stance since the beginning. Why am I supposed to wear something because you’re freaked out?
Went hiking this week and idiots were wearing them. Middle of nowhere trail in the woods. If you're so worried stay home

Shit. Walmart has free curbside pickup. We use it all the time because I hated going in long before corona time.
