I would never pay $19.99 to not own a physical copy of anything. Paying for Digital Download Streaming of a single film is a fools errand (not to be confused with the monthly digital services except for pozzed NetAgendaFlix which is also a fools errand to support them)
I understand your feelings, but I have a substantial digital library of movies now because I hate all the streaming service selection.
They have like 15 "good" movies and everything else is trash that costs them nothing because the movies aren't in demand. About 6 years ago I decided to just buy movies I like and stop watching Netflix.
10/10 would do it again. It's been more expensive, but I also can watch them anywhere I go without needing a BluRay player or a crap ton of storage space.
It still has its problems. You have to have internet to find movies you haven't downloaded, but I'm hoping to get a NAS and rip those digital copies onto it so that I will have a digital storage system. And Disney convinced a bunch of studios to start a digital locker so that if you buy a movie once it can be watched anywhere on Amazon, Google, Xbox, Vudu, Apple iTunes, etc
ALSO. A lot of the movies I bought in HD were upgraded for free to 4K which was both a surprise and really nice.
I still am uncomfortable with the lack of ownership of a physical copy, but it hasn't burned me yet, and it hasn't been without it's benefits. Also, they haven't done anything retarded like edit a movie I've purchased or remove them (like Gone With The Wind) from my library. But of course those are all things that could happen in the future considering how fucked up those companies are
