Simply put, politics - especially todays politics - are toxic. The ideals and goals of the left are to demoralize and gaslight all opposition. Many do not want to subject themselves to this. Another reason is because we are not politicians, we are not political activists, we spend our time and energy focusing on our own lifes path. It is these two reasons - which reinforce each other - that keep the majority silent.

Not with that attitude and not if people don’t work at it. Get behind a worthy candidate. Get organized! Reach the people through billboards, skywriting, letters to the editor, bake sales, cool T-shirt’s and totes. Standing on the sidewalks, politely sign waving. Door knocks and calling, flyers. Maybe crop circles in Idaho. I used to volunteer in 2015 for Bernie. The bake sales actually were effective. We did all that and went to community events and tabled. Walked the neighborhoods in teams on primary day and got out the vote. That I was stupid and my enthusiasm was misplaced, yes. But I saw what an energized base could accomplish, and we did. It is possible to reach the voters, you have to talk to them.
