I just finished a conversation with my boss' boss, telling me (as nice as he can) to make all my facebook posts both future and past as hidden as possible.
When I asked why, he made it clear. People are having their lives ruined by posting a maga hat and he was looking out for my best interests.
I work for a fortune 500 company, multi-national and my position is pretty damned important (only about 10 people are in my position in a huge multi-national company) and my boss' boss is warning me against having my whole life destroyed.
I can't tell if I should be mad, sad, or terrified.
Be all three. But I suggest you comply. I run my own company and scrub my social media often. Work behind the scenes. If you can’t be overt be covert. Donate to people that register voters. People who put in the work. Anonymize yourself and keep going
This. There's plenty of both national and local campaign efforts to donate to. My latest was to the local Republicans who were working to sue our governor for unconstitutional/illegal fines on businesses here.
It's weird, but after the first donation I started receiving a lot of news and materials by mail and email. Sure, yeah, they're looking for more donations. But they're also looking for other help too and will give you updates on local stuff going down that you may not otherwise know without word of mouth.
I wish the Republican Party here would sue our Republican governor for unconstitutional/illegal fines. But it seems like they’re in bed with him too.
