I just finished a conversation with my boss' boss, telling me (as nice as he can) to make all my facebook posts both future and past as hidden as possible.
When I asked why, he made it clear. People are having their lives ruined by posting a maga hat and he was looking out for my best interests.
I work for a fortune 500 company, multi-national and my position is pretty damned important (only about 10 people are in my position in a huge multi-national company) and my boss' boss is warning me against having my whole life destroyed.
I can't tell if I should be mad, sad, or terrified.
Close it all, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc. I closed my LinkedIn account, and good riddance. It was getting too SJW, tribalism, and micro aggression. Same with Facebook. I don’t have any other except Twitter and Parler. Employers nowadays ask on their applications for your social media info, and for me it’s none of their damn business. What good are connections if they come after you? It isn’t worth it. If your skill is in high demand your reputation will precede you. Also, never ever use the same email address for social media and personal. It’s easier than you think to obfuscate who you are.
