It’s a technique to uniquely identify your device. This can be associated with your user account also. A few drawbacks, they can know what you are visiting on Reddit, even if you’re not logged in, or if the fingerprint profile is shared with other companies/networks, there can be a profile of your device and things you visit across the web, even if your not logged in to any site
