Listen, fat. Those COVID particles are so small they pass right through your mask as if it wasn't there. But, I still need you to wear that mask so we can virtue signal and posture about how safe and healthy we're being.

Has this argument with my wife and her parents tonight. Apparently we can’t open schools because the masks won’t protect from long-term exposure like in a classroom for a school day. No one could explain to me why Walmart workers who work a full shift every day around thousands of people aren’t dropping dead in droves.

My father in law also believes that everyone should wear a mask to protect the low percentage of immunocompromised people rather than those people just staying home. Apparently it’s the neighborly thing to do.

Tell your FIL that if he really wants to help the immunocompromised he should never leave his house again, because every time he steps outside, he's still creating non-zero risk of spreading COVID even with a mask.

The argument should then slide to a small inconvenience in exchange for minimizing a risk. At which point, you can ask if he knows what the actual risk of asymptomatic transmission is...which is so far a documented zero. So he's now performing a small inconvenience to minimize an already zeroed risk.

An MD on Fox News stated if you're asymptomatic your viral load is too small to be contagious; but then I read this today which says one virus particle is proven sufficient to transmit infection, but you STILL should not wear a mask:
