Agreed. I used to love rap music but as I've grown I've come to acknowledge its roots in ignorance, hate and immaturity. That generalizing all of Hip Hop, because there are some good rappers and songs out there. However, the majority of rappers and rap songs have no motivating substance. Its all a gangster, criminal, don't fuck with me, money, guns, bitches, fuck cops, my homies mentality.
Maybe one day rap can become more influenced again by Jazz, Blues and Rock. In its current form, this art called rap and hip hop is a disastrous trap for the youth and ignorant adults.
A whole lot of us while grew up on rap fell this way. It’s destructive as fuck to young minds, especially fatherless young minds. Which is why the music corporations push it soo hard.
Greed defines the music industry, rap is cheap as hell to make, rock requires studio time and musicians that can play and promotion and radio and all that.
Rap is consumed by morons who don't give a shit about quality. Written by a ghost writer who just churns it out.
I quit listening to rap because I haven't heard a original sound in years. Every rap song I hear, I feel like I heard 5 just like it a hundred times each.
Can you even imagine libraries full of books whose text consisted of rap lyrics? Maybe some stylized illustrations of the 'action parts'. Or fun pop-ups when you open the page of money and guns and hos?
Right. I bet I'm a little older than you because by the time Snoopy Dog was making rap, I was in my 20s and old enough to see it as pathetic. The songs I heard were him whining that women didn't want his boring, stoned ass. So he called them lesbians and hoes. And fantasized about hating cops who were just doing what Biden (and Gore) asked them to.
The equivalent for me might be 80s movies, where I was too young to see them as sad bravado. Men shooting guns perfectly and boring people getting the prettiest girl because they wanted to and girls could do no wrong. (Of course there still making those movies but as "super heroes.")
Sorry to highjack, but this seems like the best opportunity to ask...what music artists do you 'pedes like? I've been dying for new music but everything out there is liberal degeneracy. Any artists I(we) should check out? Deftones are my favorite band and (so far) they have done a great job of keeping politics out of their music. I'm hoping that when the .win network expands there will be places for us to discuss 'pede-friendly media like films, music, books, ect.
And speaking of hip-hop, Immortal Technique, Talib Kweli and Mos Def (or whatever his name is now) crack me up watching them appease to their lefty massas. I've loved Kanye since before his car accident and watched as the people around me went from loving his music to calling it garbage. Hilarious.

Recently I've been enjoying Mumford & Sons; Jamey Johnson; Breaking Benjamin; bunch of RetroWave music; Chris Botti jazz; some Post-Rock music like God Is An Astronaut and Explosions In The Sky; Muse; Thievery Corporation chillout; 3 Doors Down; Royal Blood; Rebelution reggae; Blank & Jones chill; and a lot of jazz and classical scores like composers such as Max Richter and Thomas Bergersen.
Sorry a little late on my reply, but man I've been checking out some of this music. Love it! Explosions in the Sky is helping me get through my daily work. Thanks so much!
I listened to old school rap back in the 80s, NWA, Public Enemy, Eric B and Rakim, Run DMC, and of course beasties, but I haven't kept up because honestly I feel the soul has been sucked out of it. Some George Clinton and Parliament too, but I don't know if that qualifies.

It's meant to keep people stupid. But it's all they got to promote any more, rock has been dead for a long time and is too expensive to produce.
Anyone with a modicum of sense realizes rap is crap. "Rock is too expensive to produce" is no excuse. Try an orchestra!

Better yet, imagine a rap song inspired by The Enigma of Amigara Fault MANGA

Elliot Smith (sad but some of the best music I’ve ever heard)
oohh, never thought to check him out. i most definitely will!
It’s the lowest level of narcissism. Fuck everyone else, me me me me.
Some rap is alright but it’s so fucking played out and unoriginal. Now they are mumbling melodies because it’s all been done before.
