I used to transcribe music lyrics by ear last year to make some side money part-time. Everyone HATED to translate modern rap, not only because it would be hard as hell to hear what they're mumbling but also you had to get accurate what they're were talking about and get the correct spelling right. I had to research correct spelling for name brand luxury items like Gucci etc. had to look up caliber of bullets and brand names of guns, and the correct spelling of all these prescriptions pills they were abbreviating. It was hell. Black music that would come through from the 50's-80's was all upbeat, or had a wise positive message, or about love or heartbreak or hardwork.

Name one other music style that preaches violence, literally drive by shootings, fucking your best friends girl, corporate luxury clothing labels, killing cops, being in prison is cool, not having a wife and kids but doing prescription medication for fun. But no... it's totally not a cultural thing, it's why pee pole!

Bill Clinton and his music mogul friends started this crap.

It was deliberate.

It was brainwashing.

If you didn't perform gangsta rap, you didn't get a contract.

I heard something about that through an interview from someone in the industry at the time. Wonder how deep the Clinton's cartel was. Listen to modern rap if you haven't though it's even worse than in the 90's.
