Just my point of view but the Army has been inclusive since I've been in 1991. I've served with members of every race, religion, and sexual orientation. I've known great leaders from each group. I've also known assholes from each group. I still don't see anywhere what Dr. Esper did that was so bad?
Perhaps? To us old guys inside the DoD "diversity and inclusion" = everyone is judged on their merits not their skin color, religion or sexual orientation. If some blue haired lesbian is screaming it on the sidewalk then it probably has a different meaning.
I've met Dr. Esper and he struck me as a good dude. He's a Ranger and Former BN CDR in the 101. If he says that the DoD welcomes diversity and inclusion, he's not being a SJW. He most likely means that we have a lot of Soldiers from diverse backgrounds and that are of them are welcome and loved. I still haven't seen what this is in reaction to.

Those meaning of those words has changed, much like the definition of racism.
They're code for wokeness.
