Also possible is that the teacher was afraid of you since you obviously are strong minded and would stand up for what is right (as in, not docking you for your beliefs). I'm assuming the professor did not have tenure (I guess I'm asking if they had tenure).
It was difficult, but it was worth it. And I still got an A in the class, so I think I'm pretty lucky in this case.

I agree! We've seen lots of stories involving professors penalizing students who didn't follow the 'correct think' agenda. Good job standing up.
