How does one cook a can such as this to eat though? Do you drain the liquid and rinse? How do you cook it on the stovetop then (since it will just be solid, wouldnt it burn the beans without any liquid in it to spread the heat?)
First, cook up some diced onions, garlic and jalapenos in some oil or bacon grease in a sauce pan. Get 'em good and soft. Add a tsp. of cumin and a tablespoon of tomato paste. Cook until the tomato paste carmelizes a bit and starts to stick to the pan. Dump in can of black beans, liquid and all. Salt to taste and heat until beans are just about to boil. Try it, it's so delicious.
