The leftist turn of the Libertarian Party is so dramatic that you have to wonder if it wasn't a CIA op. Or, maybe globalists pumped big money in to it to corrupt it an take it off the table as an outlet party for those frustrated by the R/D uniparty?

I agree. That magazine was a great counter to MSM 4 years ago. Now it is the same anti-Trump crap you find in everywhere.

I know. Their recent candidates are head scratchers.

But it's not just these candidates, who don't seem recognizably libertarian to me. I read a lot of libertarians earlier in my life, Nozick, Rothbard, Friedman, etc. I've always considered libertarians cousins, often weird and embarrassing cousins, but family nevertheless. After a long spell not paying attention to libertarianism, I subbed to Reason's YT channel, and was shocked to find one video after another saturated with progressive ideology and attitudes.

Worse, the Libertarian party itself has seemed to embrace socialists calling themselves "libertarians" and trying to burrow into the party. How on earth does this happen? Well some 19th century French socialists tried to fool people by calling themselves "libertarians" and so socialists can be libertarians today as well. Wut? I've seen Marxists on YT telling people they've joined the LP. How on earth does that happen unless some prominent people in the party have been turned and are explicitly trying to undermine libertarianism?

Since I wasn't paying attention to the LP for a long time, maybe I'm unaware of a more natural, straightforward explanation of how this happened. But, from my point of view, today's LP is shockingly different, so much so, that I do in fact suspect skullduggery.

That compass is maddening. It reduces political orientation to two nebulous properties: authoritarianism and libertarianism. It's absolutely ridiculous, but now an entire generation thinks this is the sum and substance of political philosophy.

It almost draws exactly those kinds of people too well. I was one of them until I finally started reading T_D and saw literally everything I had heard about Trump supporters was a big fat lie and the classical liberals were hiding out there.

This actually gives me ammunition to draw my girlfriend away from the Libertarians, since she understands my opposition to BLM.

It's because most of the right leaning libertarians just join the Republican party and work for neo-cons (Economic libertarianism, ignore social issues, and wars for Israel) so the leftovers that actually join the libertarian party are the left-leaning libertarians.

The libertarian party!? That is the pretty funny. I am confident that a vast majority of people that consider themselves libertarian are people like me that thought being liberal meant live and let live but have seen the proof and now most identify with the spirit of libertarianism. If we register to a party it’s probably republican.
