I don't even know what to think any more. Is COVID really out of control or not? As we enter the weekend, I see headlines including:

Is this real, or more MSM pandering and making up problems that don't exist? The hospital article seems to imply that no, hospitalizations (and deaths) are now up, not just case counts.
There is certainly an air of "don't have fun" in all of this. It seems local governments like to shut down drinking, partying, and beach activities of summer.
Maybe there's some other reason for that hospital reactivation? It became clear the convention center won't have any events to host for the foreseeable future.
Please, PLEASE someone tell me this insanity is just being pushed and isn't indeed warranted. I'm so sick of having stores have weird policies, hours, feeling unwelcome at the few businesses that are open, being muzzled by masks, and being told not to have fun as the economy collapses around us due to what I keep telling myself is an overreaction by people who see this mess as an opportunity (i.e.: "All this misery will end if you just don't elect the bad orange man!")
I know this isn't the typical flavor of this forum necessarily, but posting in Reddit will be guaranteed to get me scare monger at best and an outright ban for even questioning things at worst.
Of course it’s not real. This is all coordinated. Ask yourself why this is all happening at once as soon as the economy is recovering. Why is it only “cases” being reported. At this point, we need to say “enough!” and start fighting back.
Is any of it due to the mass protests? All of a sudden there were massive groups of people thrown together. That never gets mentioned.
It isn't warranted at all. Too many elected "leaders" rely on their staff to tell them which way the political wind is blowing. Their staff tells them that pandering to the fear mongering is the safe political stance. The staff has no idea either, but they see the MSM doom doom doom propaganda and the rising number of Covid-19 cases (purely due to enhanced testing), and they assume things are getting worse again.
Some data to consider - America went from around 2 million cases and 110,000 deaths to 3 million cases and 133,000 deaths. That's a 42% drop in lethality. Pandemic scare mongers will try to use the "deaths lag testing" garbage. What reality has shown us over the past few months is that as testing continues to increase, we are NOT seeing anywhere near the same jump in deaths.
If we were seeing the same jump in deaths (with a lag for time to get sick and die), there would have been over 700,000 deaths from Covid-19 in America by now.
The case rate fatality from the disease is rapidly declining. From an anecdotal standpoint, we are seeing less sick covid patients every week at our hospitals.
If you asked these "leaders" whether gravity was real, they would need to have their staff check some polling data before they could answer you. The louder we are about getting the country reopened, the sooner it will show up in their polling data.
I'm at a relative's home, one that still watches the nightly news. To hear it from them, we're worse off than Europe and the US can't do anything right regarding COVID. Yet as I listen, I hear no facts...none! The kind folks here have spouted off many times more facts and figures than the news. The MSM at this point are spinning so much I'm surprised they don't take flight!
