I don't even know what to think any more. Is COVID really out of control or not? As we enter the weekend, I see headlines including:

Is this real, or more MSM pandering and making up problems that don't exist? The hospital article seems to imply that no, hospitalizations (and deaths) are now up, not just case counts.

There is certainly an air of "don't have fun" in all of this. It seems local governments like to shut down drinking, partying, and beach activities of summer.

Maybe there's some other reason for that hospital reactivation? It became clear the convention center won't have any events to host for the foreseeable future.

Please, PLEASE someone tell me this insanity is just being pushed and isn't indeed warranted. I'm so sick of having stores have weird policies, hours, feeling unwelcome at the few businesses that are open, being muzzled by masks, and being told not to have fun as the economy collapses around us due to what I keep telling myself is an overreaction by people who see this mess as an opportunity (i.e.: "All this misery will end if you just don't elect the bad orange man!")

I know this isn't the typical flavor of this forum necessarily, but posting in Reddit will be guaranteed to get me scare monger at best and an outright ban for even questioning things at worst.
