Nah. Being a psychologist, I know people who work with victims of trafficking. 10k is a pretty standard price, though it varies upward of course by age, etc. That price range makes the wayfair thing even more damning.

A little info, typically victims of trafficking aren’t abducted, so much as groomed and mislead, at which they come to the trafficker willingly. That’s why targets are broken households, oversexualized through premature sexual activity, low SES, addicted parents, etc where their values are already a bit twisted. When. they’re there, they are given drugs until they’re addicted and their minds are further twisted enough that most don’t even take opportunities to escape that they are given. It may cost FAR less to keep them than you’re thinking, especially if they’re stacked up like cordwood in very cheap housing, or they’re working with a well-established system of buyers.
