I'm a little more old school with my metal faves, Anthrax and Megadeath held out for a while into the 90s, then yeah pretty much everything morphed into something else. It was no longer just balls out. Don't get me wrong there's some good stuff from that era just most of the mainstream stuff wasn't for me. It just got too poppy w/ too many ballads and covers.

I did see Korn in concert though with Disturbed like 16-17 years ago. Pretty decent show despite me not being a huge fan of either. Ditto Rob Zombie.

Yeah, I'm old school as well. I was thrilled to bump into Dave Mustaine and his family at Petco on my birthday years ago, just less than a month seeing the Big Three Point Five tour with Megadeth, Slayer (10th time), Anthrax and Testament.

I still got sucked into industrial when it hit, just for something new. No regrets! :D

Metallica and the end of the hair metal phase was when I started being exposed to it all more and more. This was like Enter Sandman-ish time period and I was still pre-teen.

Pretty soon I gave up being a Metallica fan when I heard there was a guy who got kicked out of Metallica for being too big of a drunk. Then I became a fan of that man's band.

You must be a Tool guy then, no?

Yeah, I saw Tool and APC at the same venue at different shows. Maynard was a hell of a lot more fun at the APC show, however. For the Tool show, he wore a black latex catsuit and was behind the drum kit most of the show. For APC, he had a really long hair wig on and was perched on the front monitors the entire show. Huge difference in presentation there.
