As I've previously stated on this forum, I reside in a blue section of Illinois, which all but discourages the open display of pro-conservative viewpoints. The town in which I currently reside is located in close enough proximity to Chicago where some businesses here were directly impacted by the widespread looting from roughly a month ago. Fortunately, there wasn't too damage done overall.

Right now, I live with my parents, who politically are pretty much on the same page as me. We all support the president, but choose to stay fairly quiet about it in public for obvious reasons. When we're home, we constantly lambaste crazy leftist behavior, both on the national level and in Illinois (we can't stand Pritzker and think that he's arguably the worst governor the state has had in decades).

Anyway, I've lived on the same block for my entire life, and there are a number of other people here who are longtime residents, too. Having said that, my block has also seen a number of new people move in over the last decade (many of whom are minorities). That basically reflects the gradual demographic shift in the larger community over that same duration.

My parents and I get along with numerous individuals on our block (and in our town), regardless of race. We were justifiably stunned, then, to find a large piece of paper lying on our front porch this morning praising BLM and George Floyd. The text on the paper seemed to be written in red crayon. The strangest thing, though, was that our house was the only one to receive such a message; none of our other white neighbors did. My parents filed a police report, and they invited the officer on the phone to come by to assess the situation, but so far, that hasn't happened.

I'm quite pissed about this, but also a little nervous. Overall, my town is still not too bad, but what's it going to be like here in 10 years? 5 years? My parents and I are starting to consider our options, but it's a little difficult to determine anything concrete right now, since my dad and I are still working. Plus, my grandma stills lives in the area, and my parents and I are her primary caregivers.

I apologize for the lengthy post, pedes, but I had to get this off my chest. I'm extremely grateful for this forum, where I can freely air my grievances to friendly, understanding people. There's truly no other place on the Internet like here.

Get out of Illinois while you still can.

Also, get security cameras up and running. Fucking LOVE my setup. No ones placing shit on my property without it being recorded.

Trust me, my parents and I have been weighing that possibility more and more lately. We're really growing to dislike this area, and the state itself has basically become a national laughing stock, what with all the political corruption, excessive taxes and ever-increasing crime. However, the biggest problem, as I said, is that my grandma still lives nearby, and my parents and I are essentially the only ones in our family who take care of her. So unfortunately, we're kind of tied down here for the time being.

The other question is, where is even the best place to move? I've been based in the Midwest my whole life, and really would not like to leave that general region. I've often kicked around the possibility of relocating somewhere in Indiana that isn't in either Lake or Marion County.

As for your other comment, security cameras are actually a pretty good idea. I never would have thought of that, so thanks for the advice! What kind of setup do you have, and how did you go about installing it?

Has anyone in your household donated to GEOTUS? I know my name and address were republished by racist.watch and DJT.watch (or whatever it was called) for being a Trump donor.

No, we have never donated to the president's campaign.

Put a US flag on your porch and buy surveillance equipment.

I'll consider these suggestions. Thanks, pede.

I feel your pain. It’s easy to say you need to speak up and whatnot, but I know many who are petrified.

I post to Facebook like I post here - memes, shitposts, conspiracies etc. I don’t hold back on calling BLM a bunch of Marxist shitstains.

But my family and friends are horrified and will private message me saying they agree with me but are scared that they’ll get attacked or canceled from work if they like my post or whatever. Some have even un-friended me with an apology.

They all are praying Trump wins and that it causes the democrats to dump the Marxist gRbage.

Btw I am not saying this to be brave. I live in a rural area that is not proliferated with BLM thugs or even near any major metro. I also work for myself.

If I lived in metro Chicago and worked for someone else, I would not be able to enjoy the free speech I do now.

I have a Facebook account as well, but I'm to the point where I rarely check it, because to me, it's simply a major waste of time. I also haven't posted anything on there in more than three-and-a-half years, and when I did, it was usually benign content like sports comments or certain things happening in my life.

When it comes to social media, I personally don't think my views are anyone else's business, but hats off to you for your bravery and boldness on Facebook! It's a sad state of affairs when expressing your admiration for the U.S. President is considered controversial, but unfortunately, that seems to be where we stand.

To your last comment, I am obviously also hoping that Trump wins reelection, but I truly don't know what the left's reaction will be if that happens. If recent events serve as any indication, it might not be pretty.

I've found that one hater in the neighborhood can make you start suspecting everyone. Don't let them ruin your mood. Cowards leave notes.

Thanks, pede. I really appreciate the nice words. The neighborhood is actually fairly good, all things considered. My block is normally pretty quiet, and overall, everyone tends to get along well. It's just a shame that there are occasionally bad apples around an area that simply want to engage in nonsense.

Even gropin' Joe Biden says fire a couple shotgun blasts, it is coming to that for all of us.

Good luck.
