I'm not sure what he did with that weapon could be considered wielding. He was just displaying it casually and very ineffectively to let him know he's armed.
In Texas, revealing the fact that you have a weapon to intimidate somebody is considered use of force. Use of force for a citizen is only lawful in self defense.
Not saying he did anything wrong, but prosecution could have ammo to use against him.

He was holding it on display like it was 4th grade show and tell; hardly a stance that is intimidating.
I wholly agree
