I've only been here a little over 12 years but the NW valley is based. Scottsdale is little LA - but they also have lots of money so it might be more accurate to call them Orange County 2.0.
Flagstaff has always been liberal (although it's only 54 percent democrat) but it's tiny at 71k and outnumbered by the GOP tribes around them.
Lets put it this way. Tribal elders and chieftains lead the benediction - in their native language - whenever there's a Trump rally here. It's pretty awesome actually.
Demographics hasn't changed that much since most illegals keep on going north. Particularly after all the decades of Sheriff Joe Arpaio - who's running again. Any BLM 'disturbances' were from trucked in idiots from CA - and the first 'protests' were right in front of Police HQ - which has massive jail capacity. They just plucked them off the streets.
Those that fled walked right into the surrounding barrios. That's gang turf. It didn't go well for them after that. Livestreams I saw included the phrases 'this looks sketch as fuck'. 'I really don't like the looks if this', 'holy shit'.
If you didn't know - Hispanics aren't huge BLM fans. You may have seen footage of them being chased with chainsaws by Hispanic store owners. We're also armed to the teeth - have the best gun laws in the nation - forbid new federal gun laws by constitution (they can't be enforced) - and make our own firearms.
Sounds like a hugbox for Northern Californians don't it?
On that note - Google tried to open offices here. They lost their shit and fled after 8 months. So no - it's not really CA's scene.
Well, Google fled on their own accord. It wasn't a good fit for their nutty employees.
Joe is running for Sheriff because he essentially screwed up the GOP primaries leaving Dr. Kelli Ward in the lurch. Not a huge fan of that stunt. Great Sheriff tho. Ward has been good in taking the lead role of the AZ GOP tho so I'm zen on the outcome.
I lived in Silicon Valley prior to 2008 for about 8 years (although I did business with it since the early 90s) when it was more libertarian and H1-Bs hadn't dominated so I can only imagine how the next wave of SV idiots freaked when they transplanted. (prior to that 5 other states all west of the Mississippi (but not the coast). AZ is probably the longest I've stayed 'put', and I'm a huge fan although I'm starting to look at the high-desert vs the valley in the near-future).
Hispanics have always been a large part of AZ - since forever - so that's not an issue either. They're Christian, aren't pro-abortion and support the communities here in many ways. I'm not certain where the DNC thinks they're on 'their side' since - again - they're not into far left crap (by majority), and certainly aren't fans of toppling statues of Jesus. You'd also might not be aware that they're not into illegals who have been giving them a bad name - let alone the cartels who try to move in on their turf.
Many are also insane motorheads. I have no problem with someone who knows their way around a car. Always been a fan of the lowrider culture. The amount of engineering knowledge required. Holy crap.
The biggest issue with illegals in AZ is the human smugglers who route them through our desert which is basically a meat grinder. We're at 118ºF - like right now. That's a killer. We're hunkered down with the largest nuclear power plant in the nation giving us literal life support. Preventing illegal immigration isn't just good America First policy - it's a human rights issue because they die by the hundreds in the desert which can knock you out in less than 30 minutes. Permanently. Not a lot of evidence left behind either to ID bodies as the wildlife scatters them quickly. If they don't have a wallet in their pants - they're just another addition to the pile of unknowns.
Anyone who actively encourages illegals to transit the Sonoran desert is effectively committing genocide. The human traffickers and whatever orgs or NGOs are involved are culpable of mass murder.
Hasn't happened to AZ - regardless of what the media would like you to think.
4.7-plus million in Maricopa county compared to less than 1m in Tucson. Plus our tribes vote GOP.
They keep saying it's a purple state - but I think that's to keep mass suicides in Tucson down.

Sitting in Nevada City right now. :-)
There was a Honk For Trump sign rally in Grass Valley at the Brunswick & HWY 49 intersection earlier in the week.
