He did worse. He forced them by executive order to take in positive patients, and forbade them from testing for it, so they couldn't isolate them.

This is very old, Florida has had 255k cases and over 4K deaths.

You’re referring to the antibody test that determines (currently, very inaccurately) whether someone has antibodies to the virus, indicating they have had it in the past. The tests to see if you currently have the virus are very specific so the chance of a false positive is very low, though there is a decent chance of a false negative if you take the test too early or late.

The amount of ignorance on this topic is staggering.

Backwards, pal. PCR test has a high rate of false positives. The inventor of the test has warned that it has a fatal flaw, especially with over zealous techs that do the test. Because of this known issue people are often given a 2nd test if positive which both are added to the case count. You’re right pretty staggering ignorance lol.

No, it does not. Please provide a reference for the inventors statements. There’s a false image/info going around on social media attributing statements to the inventor of pcr tests, which they never said, and is being taken out of context with a false conclusion anyway.

I know 5 people that have tested positive, none had to get tested twice, no concerns about a false positive. Also, your statement about multiple positive test results leading to two cases added to the case count is also false, at least in my state of Alabama. Of course that doesn’t mean it’s not happening elsewhere, but the ADPH has been asked specifically whether multiple test results for the same person are added to the case count and their answer is no, their numbers are released per person.

Ignorance indeed.

This is utterly, completely false. The antibody and viral (pcr or antigen) tests are administered in entirely different ways. The antibody tear requires a blood sample, the others a respiratory/nasopharyngeal swab.

The people getting tested are getting the pcr test.

But still solid. At the time NY had about 1.3 times the number of cases than what Florida has now and would have over 6 times the deaths.

I agree though that memes need to be updated with new info or at least date stamp it so people know the comparison point.

True, this is an old meme BUT there’s a scandal that’s now being uncovered by the right that 100% of those tested on a recent day in FL that EVERY SINGLE PERSON TESTED ONE DAY WAS POSITIVE???...

IT’S COMPLETELY BOGUS AND MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE! Don’t believe everything you read from MSM it’s FAKE NEWS!!!

Assuming we ever decouple antibody tests and duplicate tests from the total case count that will probably plummet.

Wow 4k deaths over 5 months?!!?!?!?!?? Lets just hide in our homes forever! Keep making excuses for Cuomo though

BamaDiver75 1 point ago +1 / -0

Fuck Cuomo, I’m not making excuses for anybody. I agree that the media reaction to Florida’s current situation and New York is disingenuous and backwards. Florida’s numbers are rising but they’ll never reach New York’s death toll, and cuomo/de Blasio should be held accountable.

Officially, Florida is over 4K deaths as of today. But we all know 95% of those are actually preexisting pneumonia, cancer, diabetes, and heart conditions.

Sure, population density may account for some of the disparities between cases/deaths, but not all. In addition, I would say it is much harder budget wise to run Florida than New York because of population density differences.

Well yeah, you're forgetting the classic line of the left,

"RiGhT WiNg bAD!"

I don’t care which way you’re political aspirations lean, listening to Cuomo talk for more than 15 minutes will let you know he’s inept. What takes him 15 minutes to say can be said in three minutes.

What's really telling is that almost half the population of such a huge state is in that one small area in the southeast. NYC represents the whole state, politically. Even LA and the bay area only represent about 25% the pop of ca.

NYC was in debt long before COVID. However, NYC has a denser population and with Subways which lead to an easier spread. Adding people back to nursing homes also raised the death count substantially. So, not Apples to Apples - but still a shit job on Cuomo’s part.

MudDog 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't watch MSM at all, are they really trying to suggest he's doing a good job?!

onetruecliff 2 points ago +2 / -0

I came here to be a minor dissenting saying that New York doesn't have as good of exports and imports as Florida does. However, I just looked up the figures... (New York City might not), but actually New York state makes MORE money than Florida does. (About 25% more total, and they tax more!)

So New York governor is an even BIGGER fuck-up than these numbers show.

I'm certainly no fan of Cuomo but the facts don't seem to be correct here... https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

It's an old meme...

1
Damadhatter 1 point ago +1 / -0

To be fair probably 25k of those NY deaths were just a "whoops" with that whole nursing home thing we don't talk about since it was basically murder by the gov. But Dems aren't capable of murder according to the news so we just don't count those.
