What is interesting that there is a massive part of Indian Instagram that does 'creative edits" (bad photoshop) featuring young Indian men lightening their skin with photoshop. The often have before and after pictures. It seems to be some kind of strange cultural phenomenon in India.
Anyone who has talked to native India/Chinese/Japanese/Pacific rim person knows that light skin denotes upper class/status because laborers have darker skin. Nuttin' to do with Europe... if the "journalist " who wrote this piece of garbage actually talked to native peoples...
Nearly every young Chinese woman uses skin lightening products. Huge market. Dark skin is a sign of field workers.
“Journalists’” opinions are like assholes
Everyone has one, or that they are all stinky?

What's ridiculous is the lighter skin being perceived as "better" in India dates back many thousands of years.
Their caste system was in force and skin-color based long before any Europeans got there.
