If you think China will go down without a fight you obviously don't know much about China. Face is everything. They will do anything to save face, even if it's suicidal. Just look at what they are doing now. They are leaving themselves no other choice but war. So we should beat them to the punch. The US needs a war against China more than anything. It seems counter-intuitive until you realize what kind of consequences it will have. First and foremost, it will prove once and for all that women have no place in combat. It will also show that they have no business being in the military. I like the WWII idea of having women aux corps though, if needed. Second, it will scare liberals out of the military. Third, it will necessitate the military getting tougher and stop coddling recruits like they're children. And then of course there's the overt changes where we destroy the Chinese economy and their web of corruption.
My intended point was China is GOING to fight (agree with you there 100%), but won't have the internal support of their populous when they do, and WHEN they get a bloody nose in the South China Sea and get sent packing, they are going to suffer a real PR defeat at home and lose a TON of face with their people.

I dunno about hours, but it wouldn't be very long before China had no ability to operate its military forces.
