We gotta stop comparing ourselves to reddit though. It doesn’t matter if we’re bigger or not. Quality over quantity, we actually have a sense of comradery and community here, to me that’s way more important. Plus, this is about supporting the man who’s draining the swamp, there’s nothing wrong with you going somewhere else for entertainment or sports or to learn about adrenochrome or how Epstein didn’t kill himself
decentralized is way better, keep each site on its own hosting and domain.

That is provably wrong. People only visit a -few- sites normally, on average, total.
6 or 8 or 10 sites: bank, few news, social media or three, etc.
The number is VERY finite for most people. If you want to attract the big bigly numbers, you want to be THE site. Not a site that people forget. And, you need to be broad enough if you are a news'ish site that it sticks into that place.
Being a little broader than Trump memes is maybe a good thing...

I think there's a happy medium to be had. Being big is not bad. Being big can be bad, but not all big sites are bad.
Even Reddit when it focused on things non-political is very good: books, movies, etc.
Something happens to websites when they get big, they start suppressing people. You will see that on here before too long. It's inevitable.
