No Poland isn’t on the same trajectory as the US. It’s not going ever more left. The presidency is mostly a figurehead position in Poland and Duda isn’t a particularly sympathetic character. The elections to watch will be to the Sejm (Congress) and whether Morawiecki will keep the PM position. In 2015 PiS (Law and Justice Conservative party) won a historic election. For the first time since the end of communism a party won an outright majority and didn’t have to create a confederated government. They pushed through a ton of changes and got a lot of swamp rats left over from communism thrown out of the Justice department—but there’s a lot more to do.
This is actually somewhat misleading as both are right leaning, one side is free shit and far right, the one who won. The other side is "gay people are not subhuman" and center right. There's also what is basically an alt-right in 4th place and center left in 3rd place. Unlike say america there's something like 9 viable parties over there and 4 out of the top 3 are actually right leaning.
