Yep. πŸ‘†πŸ‘†πŸ‘†This person is correct. Google is scrubbing 🧽 things. Why? Maybe one reason is to limit education, perhaps another is to push people towards things by already setting up parameters for those who use it.

My solution? Stop using Google. Stop buying and consuming Google products (like Android) unless you absolutely have to.

Has anyone noticed they can (hardy) no longer even buy the cheapest model of phone at major stores that do not have a camera?

2015 article on things

Heres a recent news article, β€œ Google says it will no longer allow ads for products or services marketed for the purposes of tracking or monitoring another person without their authorization.β€œ among other things. Says they will NO LONGER allow spyware. Reread that, slowly. No longer allow (spyware) ads that were accessing your camera, mic, browser...

Crazy. But w/e. The NSA is around doing...whatever it is they are supposed to be doing.

Also, for those unaware, your browser history can already be viewed by our government. Mines gonna be full of all sorts of goodies.

I would stop using Android but theres kinda no other solution. Apple? Hell no. Linux phone? Underdeveloped though intriguing. My best solution is to find a modable phone and install Graphene OS which is based off the Android Open Source Project and not Googles version of Android. Keeps Android de-googled, open source, and aimed at protecting you from google.

For other google services: DuckDuckGo instead of Google.com Protonmail instead of Gmail HEREWeGo instead of Maps NewPipe instead of the Youtube App Setup a Nextcloud Server instead of using Drive Aurora Store and FDroid instead of the Play Store Signal instead of any other messaging app Firefox instead of Chrome

Harden your device with things like general strict settings on privacy and security and keeping vpns up (good ones like NordVPN) as often as possible. A good one to have on mobile is NetGuard where you can block certain apps from accessing the internet at all so even if they wanted to send data they couldnt.

And then just replace the basic phone apps with open source variants. Things like calendar and calculator. Tibor Kaputa has a good open source suite of simple and open source tools on FDroid.

De-Googling is hard for sure but a lot more possible than people think.

Oh also get rid of social media like Twitter and Facebook... you dont need it. A lot of people are saying with Twitter to move to Parler which I love to see people move off Twitter but Id also love to see people not use any form of it at all.

Yes but its pretty disconnected at this point. When people say "Linux phone" theyre often referring to something running Ubuntu Touch or similar
