Two simple questions for governors mandating masks. 1) If masks will end the pandemic, why didn’t they suggest this BEFORE forcing a 3 month shutdown? And 2) if masks are so critical, why have none of these officials initiated a free mask program for those who are financially struggling?

Here's the mask paradox:
If masks are so effective to stopping COVID that they need to be mandated, then all business & schools should be allowed to open under a mask mandate.
However, if masks are ineffective enough that they need the other closure measures to stay in place, then they are not effective enough to warrant a mandate.
