It's simple deflection to make the illegal crossing issue look like it's not an issue. Shit tons of people are crossing the border illegally AND some people are overstaying their visas. They all need to get the fuck out of our country. Walls work and so do masks. I'm not sure why stupid people have to turn everything into a us vs them political shit show. What's next? Fire doesn't burn you if you're a centrist?
He's probably talking about the people who entered legally yet then decided not the leave when it was time to. Those types do exist, but have nothing to do with walls preventing illegals from just walking across our borders. In my opinion we should kick out anyone that is found to be here illegally and just coming into the country by illegally crossing our borders means you've broken the law and are a criminal.
That makes perfect sense. I’ll personally give him the benefit of doubt b/c I also made a poorly worded comment a few days ago that got interpreted completely opposite of what I meant and got me downvoted to hell, called a troll amongst much worse, untoward names ;)
Cloth masks, in this case a bandanna, will not stop 100% of the covid-19 particles you exhale, but will stop them from dispersing as far. They are somewhat effective and much better than not using anything. Ideally, you'd want a face mask that could filter out the most particles such as a N95 rated mask, N95 rated respirator or a complete gas mask.
While I'm not worried about getting a virus with a 98.7% survival rate that's no reason to deny hundreds of years of science and logic and claim that masks or walls don't work. Sure, you can still get over a wall or get a virus wearing a mask, but they both do provide some level of protection and indeed do work for what they were designed for.
If per say they would simply examine what an asymptomatic exhales, you know, if it contains virus particles that can infect you the issue would be a closed case. I really haven't looked into what is motivating the claims that asymptomatic spread it as I really don't care if I get it. I just know that masks work.
Yeah, I probably will. I know asymptomatic HIV/AIDS patients can spread HIV. I'd imagine it's fair easy to figure out. Test the particles that asymptomatic people exhale. If some exhale the chink flu then that's a dead giveaway.
Here’s the problem. You’re operating under the assumption that it’s possible for someone that doesn’t have symptoms to still be contagious (why would you be outside if you had any?). Show me one confirmed case of this happening - the WHO hasn't found any and it’s not for lack of trying - and I’ll maybe take what you say seriously
I wasn't addressing that issue nor do I know enough about it to even begin to share information with you. I just know that masks work. They exist for a reason. It would be asinine to claim that fabric designed to filter out particles doesn't filter out particles or that placing something that inhibits air flow in front of air flow doesn't inhibit the air flow. It would be along the same lines as claiming that walls don't keep people in or out of a structure.
I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m saying your point is irrelevant. If I cannot spread the virus because I’m not showing symptoms, you’ll have an equivalent level of protection from covid if you put the mask on me or an onion. Can you at least understand that?
I'm not sure why scientists are claiming asymptomatic people can spread the virus. If all they are doing is examining what asymptomatic people are exhaling and some of them are exhaling chink flu virus particles that can infect other people then it would make sense for everyone to wear a mask.
Furthermore, if they can't then people who are coughing or sneezing could be infected and they would indeed spread it and masks would help. Due to these circumstances it would just be better to wear a mask.
Although, I believe in freedom so if you don't want to wear one I don't think you should be forced to just like if a business wants to ban anyone not wearing them no one should force them to allow you into their business. I strongly believe that businesses should be able to deny anyone entry for any reason they want.
I'm also not concerned with catching the virus. The last time I checked it has a 98.7% survival rate and most of the people who get sick and end up in the hospital are older or have compromised immune systems and out of those select few only a handful die. Sure, it's a bit worse than the flu because there's no vaccine yet, but not by much.
The science and percentages keep changing. It's like anything else related to science what is known today is more than likely not accurate. The gist of my comment is that the death rate is really low. People should focus on that instead of picking apart specifics that change on a weekly basis.
Yep masks work. They exist for a reason. Kinda like how surgical masks exist to keep the surgeon from spitting into the area that he is operating. Essentially to limit bacterial spread. Not to limit viral infections. And with cloth masks, you're talking about a non medical device all together. Facial coverings of that type have essentially just been used to limit the inhalation of dust/sand. Do they do some good? I have no doubt. But the needed scientific research really isn't there to describe the situations we're talking about.
It's quite simple. Face coverings stop what you exhale from dispersing as far and masks rated to filter out particles the size of covid-19 do indeed work and filter out those particles. Plus, like you mentioned, people wear masks for dust/sand and they also wear them for allergies or for chemicals/gasses/fumes. I don't see why people would claim "they don't work".
You can't just say "masks work". Work for what purpose and to what degree? To avoid specifics is to avoid the problem we currently face, which is that we simply do not have a robust body of research around the efficacy of the different types of face coverings in different situations.
No, you aren't being specific. What is the efficacy of a cloth face covering in a retail setting in terms of lowering transmission rates? You don't know, because the research isn't there to tell you with any sort of accuracy. "It just works" isn't solid ground for macro level policy, and sure isn't a proper basis for a lot of the sweeping declarations we are seeing in society right now.
Why? Because something in front of an air source stops the spread of the air to some extent or because something designed to filter out small particles actually does filter them out?
If you're simply replying to my stance that I don't care that I catch the chink flu, then I suppose you're entitled to that opinion. However, if you're stating that masks don't work you should probably check your political bias bullshit at the door and go educate yourself.
Yeah or you can cover your mouth if you have to cough or sneeze like we've been doing for thousands of years. The problem with masks is people think they dont have to cover their mouths to cough.
Another thing is, if this is your reasoning only people with coughs and allergies should be using mask. Haven't coughed in weeks why do i need a mask?
My reasoning would be that even a cloth mask will slow down the spread of the virus. Even when you're not coughing or sneezing you're still exhaling particles into your surroundings.
My giving examples of people who have allergies and wear masks was to show they do indeed filter out particles.
Of course they believe the wall will work, they’d shut up otherwise
Antifa can stop my shit from flying, though. The science is settled!
It's not about stopping the virus getting in.
It's about stopping droplets from leaving your mouth and infesting the environment.
Ever see what a sneeze emits? Or felt the moisture from the mask after you take it off? That is what the mask is very effective at stopping.
I would be down if masks are mandatory in grocery stores and food preparation areas in the post covid future.
Considering the huge portion of illegal immigrants that came to the US completely legally, I don't think the wall is going to do much really tbh.
You would be an idiot to believe either of those.
The bullshit narravtive of more overstays than illegal crossings uses our number of apprehensions.
CBP is on record saying for everyone we apprehend, there are at least 3 more that we never encounter.
And if you dont believe a wall would help I question your sanity.

WTF you talking about? This has to be sarcasm.
He's probably talking about the people who entered legally yet then decided not the leave when it was time to. How about this... Let's stop the illegal crossings AND visa overstays.

It's actually proven to be more along the lines of a 99.7% survival rate. And also, asymptomatic people have been known not to spread it.
If you're sick, by all means please use regular flu rules and stay home. Wear a mask if you absolutely have to.
Otherwise, the rest of us should not have to do all this crazy shit just To go out in public.
If per say they would simply examine what an asymptomatic exhales, you know, if it contains virus particles that can infect you the issue would be a closed case. I really haven't looked into what is motivating the claims that asymptomatic spread it as I really don't care if I get it. I just know that masks work.
There are tens of studies saying asymptomatic people do not spread this disease.
I know you said you haven't looked into it. So now you've been told that science is proving it. Go look into it.
Yeah, I probably will. I know asymptomatic HIV/AIDS patients can spread HIV. I'd imagine it's fair easy to figure out. Test the particles that asymptomatic people exhale. If some exhale the chink flu then that's a dead giveaway.
I'm curious as to why you would compare this flu to an STD.
Here’s the problem. You’re operating under the assumption that it’s possible for someone that doesn’t have symptoms to still be contagious (why would you be outside if you had any?). "The last time I checked it has a 98.7% survival rate"
Did you last check in February??

User name checks out
Care to elaborate on what you meant or are you just trying to fit in with the other crickets?
Your username, seperatedFromReality, accurately reflects you mental stat with regard mask wearing.
You can't just say "masks work". Work for what purpose and to what degree? To avoid specifics is to avoid the problem we currently face, which is that we simply do not have a robust body of research around the efficacy of the different types of face coverings in different situations.
To be specific, cloth coverings stop the particles you exhale to disperse as far and filter out a little bit of the larger particles.
Those blue strap on doctor's masks stop some larger particles and some bacteria along with a little bit of the larger virus particles.
Allergy masks stop the larger allergen particles.
Respirators and N95 rated masks stop chemicals, gasses, pesticides and the smaller virii particles.
Full face gas masks stop 99.9% of airborne particles, gasses, chemicals, etc ...
So yeah, masks do "just work". They are designed for a reason. If they didn't do anything at all they wouldn't exist. Sort of like walls.
No, you aren't being specific. What is the efficacy of a cloth face covering in a retail setting in terms of lowering transmission rates?
