The "torches and pitchforks" are people flooding closed beaches, huge and prolonged displays of private (and illegal) fireworks on the 4th after Newsom shut down public events, sheriffs up and down the state refusing to enforce masks, and all the protest demonstrations over the past few months (there are at least two more happening this month). Don't look for an all-guns-blazing frontal assault as an indicator: look at what we the people are doing. Oh, and there's the recall. Newsom hates us because we aren't cowering.
