The way public schools receive funding is based on enrollment and attendance. They receive X amount based on how how many kids they enroll (and their attendance too, which is why so many are so strict). If schools don't want to reopen, then we need to force these schools into the ground denying them as much funding as possible. There are numerous free online virtual schools and charter schools that are established and designed to educate your children from home that you should enroll your children in instead, because God knows with how dysfunctional public schools are already in person. You can always re enroll them when schools reopen, even in the middle of the school year very easily.
Tell your family and friends!!
Lots of good local private and religious schools for those who cannot home school.
Fuck that. Unenroll them regardless of what happens and pick literally any other option. Private school, home school, whatever. Make the sacrifice for them.
I agree, but really just encouraging others to get their foot in the door while denying public schools funding.
I was homeschooled until 9th grade as well and far outperformed my peers.
It's really not as hard as schools make it out to be. You really only need 2 hours a day max of schooling for kids until about 8th grade.
How would you handle preparing a kid for STEM in homeschool. In my pretty crappy full of propaganda school system I was able to see through the bs and made the most of the classes available, ended up passing calculus 2. Now that I have twin kids the idea of providing the same opportunities in STEM as well as field trips, extra curricular, etc at a reasonable cost just gives me headaches
Once the math becomes too challenging for you to teach, you can always enroll them at a local junior college is 1 or 2 STEM courses.
I haven't heard of that. Not arguing against homeschooling as it would 100% be my preference but it's my concern that they would end up being neglected if they had the brain for more advanced subjects than I could ever teach or facilitate. Will check into delight driven though, tbh anything other than common core would probably be better anyways
We're considering this. What resources did you use to do this? Does anyone know a good online homeschooling program?
Obligatory: Also demand a pro-rated amount of your school taxes refunded based upon what percentage of the year the schools were closed.
seems to me if they aren't open they have no attendance and no operating costs so they should receive $0 of taxpayer funding
I am not sure how all funding is allocated, I do know that a significant portion is on a per child basis.
Sue them for your taxes back.
American Center for Law and Justice ACLJ.org is telling people to go to the get legal help link on their site if your school won’t open or is partially opening. Sounds like they are going to file a class action lawsuit to get tax reimbursement vouchers so you can send your children to a school that meets your needs.
Excellent.
Do you have a source for them communicating this? I'm looking for it and they have a lot of school choice articles and find it using those terms.
Steve Hilton had a segment on it last night on The Next Revolution. Maybe it’s on YouTube?
Thanks.
I hope they put something sharable on their page - that'd help.
LOTS of parents, hell, people without kids even, have got to be asking "THEN WHY AM I PAYING FOR IT THEN?"
I’d like to see this on the local level. Our property taxes are outrageous and the biggest chunk goes to schools. Parents need to be demanding a refund.
Nearly everyone would be better off homeschooling. I hope this is the kick in the ass so many need to actually do it.
We home schooled two kids that grew up to be very successful. Everything you need is online. We used this: https://www.oakmeadow.com/ Or just go local if that is an option. Unfortunately, many public schools are a baby sitting service, providing nutritious meals that can't be had at home, but in the meantime indoctrinating all future snowflakes/BLM rioters/Marxists/whatever the craziness we are witnessing.
I homeschool. PM if you want to talk about it
Can't figure out how to PM. Would love to know what system you used.
I was homeschooled I did this christian computer program called switched on schoolhouse which was pretty good and there were local churches that did required testing and YMCA for athletics programs
Absolutely!
Any Christian families that want to homeschool I can personally vouch for Classical Conversations. This is the program we used with my youngest daughter and it's great. It does include christian teachings as well. But there is also strong academics.

California to shut down school for the Fall because the teachers union won't return unless the police are defunded.
It really does seem like these are coordinated events.
NO COPS, NO SCHOOL THEN.
And, when you drop by the school office to tell them you're un-enrolling your children? Be sure to let slip a casual remark about moving your kids to a charter school..........
Due to health reasons both of my kids were cyberschooled starting back in 2002. Teachers worked out of an office building cubicle, students spread throughout the state. The state money that would have gone to my local district went to the online school instead. They got free laptops and the school covered a portion of the internet bill. Their education was excellent and the school payed well and turned a profit.
gonna have to homeschool then or theyll bring truant officers back
Already on the home school path.
Homeschooling was very difficult a few years ago when a friend presented to me the idea. I am totally onboard with that idea now. My child is six and they have drag queen hour but now they want to make white children hate themselves at an early age with BLM propaganda getting ready to be pumped into schools while encouraging fatherless children they are superior to my child and will get away with every wanton behavior against society through BLM Marxist ideology............ Religious or not I read this verse..... Matthew 18.6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. All lives matter was never an issue for me when I was a child and it will not be one for mine
