Yes, my kids don't seem into classics as much as I was as a kid. I've always been fascinated by learning about history and the past, and see past the signs of age, but my kids seem less interested. May be just personality though. I recently got them to watch memento which is a great movie, and they are into original ghost busters, which is probably banned now. I should probably spend more time trying to educate them properly.
Reading 1984 to them has been fruitful, although I have to skip the sex parts.
My problem is sometimes I might get a bit too truthy and my wife doesn't always appreciate that sadly. That is another complex issue.
So many people won't get this joke, soooo good.
BTW that movie would never see the light of day in this atmosphere. So we are the lucky few.
"I was born a poor black child."
Yeah I think you are right, the joke is not accessible enough. But the situation is so comical there must be a joke in this.
That movie definitely could not be made today. Same goes for pretty much anything funny tbh. Maybe someday this will change.
Only cuz people don't watch the classics. I tried to get my kid to watch Pulp Fiction the other night "Ewww, that's old!" lol dumb fucking kids
