The Jury Box is every bit as important as voting. It’s a way to check the power of the State. Jury nullification is the people’s weapon against State overreach.

I used to clerk for a judge that gave a speech before every case that said as an American citizen there are three essential ways you can serve your country (from most diffficult to least):

  1. serve in the military
  2. serve as a juror for a fellow peer
  3. vote

She said if the citizens fail to do their civic duties, our republic will be lost. Her speech was powerful and is why I always vote and show up gladly for jury duty.
