if possible collapse

Oh it's GOING to collapse. It HAS to collapse. It's the only way they can destroy evidence at the Wuhan lab without arousing suspicion.

40
d_bokk 40 points ago +40 / -0

The CCP has already destroyed all evidence and killed all witnesses.

This is a natural disaster that could have been prevented if the CCP listened to Western experts in 1998 but the CCP said they were just "racist" for not recognizing the brilliance of Chinese "innovation."

15
Siteless_Vagrant 15 points ago +16 / -1

Which is worse, the entire international community finding out a lab worker goofed and released a manufactured virus, and everyone locks you out of the global economy, all those countries giving them billions and trillions a year in business, or one city and and a few million people (that China desperately wants to thin out anyway)? Xi will make himself a hero, and rebuilding can be a good thing for a stagnating economy.

Also don't worry too much about the Chinese under communist government. Every single Chinese I met supports their government. They think the dictatorship and oppression is necessary and proud of being a superpower. Rarely you see someone remotely critical. Don't listen to fake MSM. In latest election in Russia, 70% of the Russians supported Putin.

8
Berzerker_king 8 points ago +9 / -1

I've met Chinese who oppose the communist regime.

The thing is that China has this thing called social score. They do not allow people who they suspect of not being loyal enough to communist party, to rise in life or to leave the country.

Is Wuhan even in the Yangtze basin?

8

Straddles the Yangtze River. I watched something the other day that said (iirc) Wuhan is like 10 or 12 hours downstream and where the most destruction would occur, loss of life and money wise.

If there ARE any.. Looking at the effect of Covid here I'm starting to wonder if China didn't start those rumors themselves, and all those videos, like ones of the pigs in the pits being burned that looked older than shit, probably were. I'm thinking it was a scam to get everybody freaked and pump up the pharmaceutical sales.

If the Three Gorges goes. China is likely done as a major power. China itself would probably have 20 years maybe less as a united nation before it inevitably fractures. Already cracks are appearing.

“Is everyone cleared out? Good. Hit it with that new hypersonic rail gun!”

Just kidding. I don’t like China as an entity, but I’ve lost my house twice to flooding and I really hope those people are able to return to their homes. 38 million people is an unimaginable disaster.

18
bahhumbugger 18 points ago +18 / -0

400m are at risk.

12
bangbus 12 points ago +12 / -0

Holy shit. That is insane. This could be the biggest disaster in human history. I hope that dam holds.

9
jive-ass-turkey 9 points ago +9 / -0

Mark my words, if the Three Gorges suffers a catastrophic collapse, it WILL be the biggest disaster in human history.

This is the biggest damn in the world. Just building it displaced millions of people as their villages were flooded to create the reservoir.

Without a better understanding of the geography and demographics of China it is hard to impress upon Americans just how many people are in danger. It'd be like the Hoover dam times ten and then place Philadelphia, Boston, and Atlanta all within its floodplain.

Imagine all of those cities, already flooded by the rains, then imagine a literal river suddenly erupting from the horizon and tearing a path through the metropolis in the middle of the night, likely with little warning.

Questions about this dam's construction quality were around since it was being built. There is already satellite footage showing deformation of the dam as compared to photos from just a few years prior.

They've got all the gates open on the dam and all the generators spun up for the first time in history, because they are forced to by rising water levels in the reservoir, but that means they are just contributing to the severe flooding already downstream, which the dam was supposedly built to eliminate from happening for "10,000 years".

Wuhan is a couple hundred miles south of the Three Gorges but already under water. There are large cities closer to the dam that are in even worse shape, with no end in sight.

They've got locusts and had an earthquake the other day too.

If it starts raining frogs in southern China this afternoon I don't think I'd be that surprised.

10
Kronder12 10 points ago +10 / -0

Got to give them credit for pulling that off. The Democratic mayor of NOLA couldnt even pull off evacuating one city during Katrina.

Now that all the people are safe, I hope the thing collapses so they can feel some of the economic pain they helped inflict on the rest of the world

10
PewPew_ThaDuK 10 points ago +10 / -0

Who said they managed to actually evacuate everyone? The same Chinese who don't have a covid problem but are still shutting down theaters and the like? Lol

6
Kronder12 6 points ago +6 / -0

Good point. But the dam can go ahead and burst anyway.

2

The 40 million are the only ones they think they can save. 400 million are predicted to die.

The_New_Pope 4 points ago +4 / -0

True, but the dam was designed to prevent the very flooding that is nevertheless occurring.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a size issue. I think it had poor foundation or materials

3
jslenterprises 3 points ago +3 / -0

you're thinking of the dam north west of Mosul Iraq.

3
preferredfault 3 points ago +3 / -0

No, the issue is its poor construction. It's bigger than the Hoover dam, but constructed nowhere near as well. It's essentially placed on the bedrock, not even anchored to it. It's also still curing. For the Hoover dam, it's anchored to the mountains and they quickened the curing process by running cooling pipes through the whole structure. Without that measure, it would have taken over 125 years for the Hoover dam to cure.

Communism always collapses, but it can take a while.

Things that communists build, due to their lack of imagination and due to not allowing the intelligent to have a say, always collapse.

The Russian military for the past century was just copying and refining a US Christie tank they were given, plus getting nuclear bomb technology from a commie British spy, plus getting rocket technology from a German scientist they captured.

Chinese military for the past three decades, just whatever designs they stole, or what the Clintons gave the,.

Cuba's auto industry. They don't have one.

China will start wars, to deflect from everything going wrong inside China. Bioweapon attacks on the West, stealing land and water from Vietnam, India, Philippines, Malaysia. Using their puppet North Korea to cause trouble.

Three Gorges, would have been a good name for an All-You-Can-Eat place.

if that dam breaks, and releases all that water, over 400 million people would be affected, over half possibly killed. I can tell you now, China wouldn't be able to do shit militarily if that happened. The majority of their power is people (not equipment). Not only that, but it would also bankrupt the country.

8
Darth_Vader 8 points ago +8 / -0

I always make sure to gripe about "The CCP", not China. The people are great, their government just needs improving. Quite frankly, the CCP loves it when westerners complain about " China Chyna China", because then they can play the race card, and tell their people that the west is racist and hates them.

Call out local politicians for the messes they make. Call out senators for the messes they make. Call out the CCP for the messes the CCP makes.

5
preferredfault 5 points ago +5 / -0

It will collapse, it's only a question of when not if. The silver living to it all though, is the CPP might actually collapse with it. Although I doubt there will ever be a non-corrupt government in China. But rising from the ashes, we may end up with a Chinese government that is more fair and more focused on local rebuilding rather than foreign conquest.

From what I was reading they didn’t need to open it, there is some island next to it that is submerged normally and it wasn’t even submerged and they opened the spillgates, so they opened to flood Wuhan and the labs.

Definitely not true, you can go watch the city above the 3GD and see how flooded it already is, and going up.

Winny xipoo is playing at "concern". With over a billion people mostly males he faces huge issues. Unemployed hungry males do not do well after a while. Either civil unrest or war. The shipping of U.S. jobs - for various reasons - to china was to keep the chyneeze fed and busy. (We all have seen te MASSIVE growth an spending) With the possibility of 3 gorges dam bursting, continuing ccp virus, and perhaps spreading of bubonic plague the commies have less of a population problem with starving angry people.

I've personally watched dozens of videos from China, where entire buildings (more than 10 stories high) collapse under the Earth while workers are on them/ brand new still uninhabited buildings tip over due to poor construction/ new sidewalks open up and people are swallowed/ new ESCALATORS in new building come apart and a woman is turned to ground beef/ many, many elevator failures/ Brand new Navy ship with a door that doesn't close and the ship is flooded/ and ONE in particular on my HD, of cardboard boxes covered with cement to look like blocks. China is a COMPLETELY failed State.

And that's why they have to devalue their dollar. They can never offer a middle class life to all or even a fraction of their citizens. If they let their dollar be what it's worth, they would have to pay their citizens more money, and their citizens would have more buying power. And while that might sound beneficial, it would mean they'd have to pay factory workers more, in the sense that they could buy more with their dollar.....or pay them less so that their buying power essentially doesn't change.

A lot of people see China as hard workers in sweat shops, but the reality is the majority of factory labor is very lite work with a lot of screwing around time. They can take a smoke break every 15 minutes if they want to, or go have a 2 hour nap. The average American worker produces over 4 times the amount of work product as a Chinese worker.

Most of those factory jobs in China could easily be replaced by machines, and it would actually be cheaper in the long run. The problem for China, is it would mean hundreds of millions of people with no jobs and no income. Which would mean they would live even poorer and become dependents on the government, so they'd have a whole class of hundreds of millions of people who they'd need to appease in some way. And in this day and age, people expect more than just rice bags. People want cell phones, cars, property ownership, entertainment, good food, etc. And you ain't getting that when the government has to spread those resources around to hundreds of millions of people. Especially when China doesn't have the natural resources to cover it.

Sure, China has natural resources. But due to their population size, it could never be enough to sustain that many freeloaders. And things like rare earth metals, aren't actually that rare. The US has way more natural resources than people realize. We just haven't gone on a feeding frenzy to mine it all up. And this simple fact illustrates my point: Before ~300 years ago, N. America was essentially an untouched continent. Compare that to China or Europe, who have been living off the land and consuming resources for thousands of years.

Another problem for China, is they have even less farmable land than even the US. They already don't have enough farmable land to produce their food needs, which means they will always have to import food. This is one reason why China doesn't go to war, as much as it wants to. In a world war, where the flow of food stops coming into China, even though it'd only be 10% of their needs, that'd still be millions dead from starvation. Top that off with the fact that China only has a few months worth of energy reserves if war were to break out, and you'd have a starving angry populace with no electricity in no time. Then there's fresh water reserves. The US has slightly more, but might as well be considered to have 5 times more, because of population size differences.

China is largely a paper tiger. And while paper can still cut, it goes dull and flimsy very quickly.

The irony is China would be better off if they simply played nice and stopped being soo corrupt and thieving. Their entire economy is largely built on theft and the good graces of other countries. Just like how the US pays hundreds of millions of dollars a year just to ship Chinese packages for free for them, and just like how China has stolen tens of trillions of dollars worth of wealth from other countries in the past few decades. All of that was used to build China up, at the expense of others. Now look at it as if China never did those things and imagine what China would look like. It wouldn't be anywhere close to what it is today, and that's despite the fact that it's overall not much today anyways, considering its population size and misuse of resources.
