If you're already in the NE, have you considered NH? We barely went blue in 2016, and that was probably due to election fraud. We could use some extra red voters. No sales or income taxes (property taxes can be painful, but they're town specific)
And yet Rockingham country which encompasses both I93 & I95 is very Republican. You'd assume that transplants from MA would settle close to Mass and near the interstates to commute to jobs in Mass.
Imagine what the vote tallies would be if Massholes didn't fraudulently same-day register to vote
Theres a few things to look for in my opinion that indicate a nice place to live. First, start by looking at election history, red is obviously where you start. Now, find a place with absolutely no public transportation, not even Uber or Lyft drivers. This keeps the riff raff out of your town because one basically has to have reliable transportation to even live there, particularly because most areas like this people commute to work in a nearby city. Actually the fewer public services offered the better, places that don't have public trash pickup, no street sweepers in the neighborhoods, the grass on highways are cut by inmates, all of this equals low taxes usually. Finally, you can't go wrong with taking a look at demographics and income. 95% white and a decent median income, I'm willing to bet crime is all but non-existent, schools have decent reviews, and its an overall decent place to live.
Where are we headed? Because I’m ready to get the heck out of my blue town too.

I can't fault you there. We're thinking of a big move once the last kid has left the nest.
God speed!
