It is hilarious to me that these mental pygmies call you stupid for believing in Christ. There is loads of historical evidence that he existed. As an agnostic I cannot speak to his divinity but I am pretty sure he existed and set an example that is worth following to this day.
As for the Bible, a statement like that tells you they have never read it and know nothing about it. Yes, some of it is meant allegorically or metaphorically but there is also a lot that is meant to be taken literally. Just off the top of my head Psalms is full of stuff meant to be taken very literally.
