It's my understanding that Marx actually believes there is no such thing as human nature. He argued that the material world dictates the thoughts and actions of man. So you're pretty spot on except that you got one thing wrong, it's not that you have to be ignorant of it, it's that you have to actively deny it.

Socialism of any kind requires a large investment in ignorance and stupidity to buy into.

Ignorance of basic human nature
