I've had several times I was denied entrance for not wearing a mask but the greeter asked if I had a medical reason.

I told them no, I just refuse to wear the mask. That's not going to work if I want to buy food though. So now I think I'll just say, "I have a medical reason and it is none of your business."

It's for my mental health because I refuse to be mind controlled.

I tried the medical condition but muh hippa laws and she told me if she doesnt see doctor exemption I have to leave. How do you argue with that? I don't want to be escorted out of a store, it's so dehumanizing

I dont know if this will apply, but here you go:
Justice Department ADA hotline: 1 800-514-0301
Under the ADA you are not obligated to reveal any preexisting medical information, or justification, beyond the statement of what you claim.
Violations can result in a $92,838 fine for the first time, and essentially dbl that for the second time.
The ADA act can be issued against private businesses. IE retail stores, restaurants, etc.
Ask to speak to the manager, if they still want to play hardball, just inform them you are filing a complaint. Get all relevant information fill in the blanks. They'll stop that bullshit immediately after the first fine.

https://www.ada.gov/filing_complaint.htm

Edit: pulled out the word Violation, as it's really the hotline for info on what, where and how it can be applied. Still a good number to check.

Make them look like assholes. Just sit down and make them calling the police. and as soon as the police show up just leave of your own volition. If enough people did this they'd have to either shut down entirely, or stop being gay. Either way is a win for us. If you have an hour to spare, do it with no intention of buying anything just to make a point.

Ugh. Thanks for sharing.

Someone else said they just go to another store that doesn't hassle them. It's worked for me once. Not sure what to do if they all refuse to serve me at some point.

Not sure where you were, but that would be it for me. I would never go back there again. There are too many other places to spend my money.

That's medical descrimination. Threaten to sue. Ask for a manager. These companies are risk averse (hense why they're even doing the mask thing, dont want lawsuits).

I tried the, "I don't believe in it" excuse at a Local theatre here, kept getting push back. I posted on their IG if i had a medical exemption could I go sans-mask and they replied, "Of course, please let an employee know 🙏".

I returned and just showed them the executive order part where it says I'm exempt.

When you FIRST encounter an employee They will ask, then show or explain to them and they'll usually stfu.

They are not making a single extra cent by saying no or saying yes so just use the system to your advantage.

I had the owner of the grocery store refuse me service. Said he didn't want his business shut down by the state. Basically scared of getting his knee caps whacked.

I've been doing that. I tell them I have a medical condition and they shut up about it. It's worked almost every single time, except once at a McD where a female manager insisted she never heard of people being exempt.

Some places don't even ask or say anything.

Fair, I was more saying that HIPAA doesn't have anything to do with the guy not telling the employee his medical condition. I'm sure it's protected by one law or another, but not HIPAA

Yeah, ADA would be more applicable, I do believe.

Remanys 12 points ago +12 / -0

I have ADA's number saved in my phone lol. I wont deal with unconstitutional bullshit

Yeah, but they’re the ones who you quote for privacy and not feel the need to say why.

Not so my friend. Ask your employer, etc.
