I'm starting to see signs in corporate stores stating something along the lines of "due to a national coin shortage, please try to use exact change if paying with cash" and some places only have 1/6 checkout lines that will accept cash. Is this the last ditch effort to remove all untraceable transactions, or is there actually some sort of legitimate national coin shortage?

All the homeless camps are hoarding them
Really though, the US mints shutdown to China Virus, coins should make a comeback.
That makes sense. Damaged coins are still being removed from circulation like normal, but the supply of replacements is limited or non existent due to the shutdown. I can't wait for November, when the wu flu panic will vanish as fast as russia collusion did.
What situation requires a mint for that? People's piggy banks getting to big?
