You are proposing erecting a government funded monument within two blocks of where Jessica Whitaker was murdered for expressing her 1st Amendment right to voice her opinion on the Black Lives Matter movement. I strongly oppose this action.
Regardless of the proposal's statement that the slogan is 'anti-racist', I must assume you are all intelligent enough to understand that promoting the lives of any individual race is inherently racist. If you are truly concerned about that race’s lives, the defunding of Planned Parenthood and increase in police funding and might yield better results.
Do right by your constituents. Oppose racism by opposing this resolution. Oppose the Black Lives Matter Marxist organization who publicly advocates for the elimination of the nuclear family and other un-American principles and values (Look it up - https://blacklivesmatter.com/what-we-believe/).
Lastly, no matter how you vote, the radicals who have hijacked the Black Lives Matter slogan are coming for me (and people like me of all races and political beliefs). They are also coming for you (political and social public figures), also regardless of race or politics. You need only watch the news to see it happening to both conservative and liberal mayors, governors, and other politicians - not just your constituents. It is time to oppose their goals and message before the quickly rising violent crime rates, looting and harassment will become the irreversible norm. That is not the city I want to live in.
Please, do the right thing. Push back against the mob before it is too late.
