The left operates by causing panic. A panicked herd isn't thinking, it's simply reacting and stampeding around. While they're trampling everything in sight, all the left has to do is order their 'drovers' to direct the herd this way and that to accomplish their aims. Primal fear, rage, greed, visceral appetite, sexual excess, guilt, covetousness and revenge: these are the base emotions that the left likes to "trigger" when they're staging their rampages.
The left hates it though, when they're not in control of who or what's doing the triggering. One of their very favorite tactics is the trigger of 'impending doom', like: the population bomb, nuclear winter, water shortages, ozone hole, deforestation, food chain extinctions, global warming, and most recently...biological pathogens. Notice how they've moved effortlessly from: "you're all gonna roast to death!!!" to "you're all gonna die from bacterial and viral plagues!!!"
